A Good Weekend

Whatsup yall??? So this weekend was amazing. Not much happened, which is why it was amazing.

Friday, I went to work for 4-5 hours of the day which was very chill. If some of you don't know, I work at the Archaeology Lab here at NMU. My boss is also one of my professors and his is one of the most awesome bosses that I've ever had. First, he jumped through loops (figuratively speaking) to get me Work Study so that I could work and get money for tuition. Then he doesn't start me off at Michigan's minimum wage of $7.40, instead he starts me off around $8-9 an hour. Plus, I get minimum of 6-10 hours a week with the choice of when I get to work and for how long. Then, for work I am usually going through some of his sites and artifacts from those sites and putting them in inventory. I also will often clean and organize the lab and a part of the storage because a part of my OCD screams at me to do so. Often times he will come in and interrupt me to show me some new artifact he found or to examine some bones that he received from various sources. He also really likes to stop on in and make sure that I'm still alive because of how quietly I work. ;) So, starting off my Friday with my job was really a start of a good weekend.
That night I had a little shindig with some of my friends and a few of other people who were friends of friends. It was a lot of fun and we had a blast chatting it up, drinking (juice of course..), and playing various games.

The rest of the weekend was pretty much the same story, I hung out a little bit with two really good friends of mine, Ashley LaBre and Afina Kong. We pretty much just watched a couple of movies, took naps, talked (a lot!), and went out to eat a couple of times. When I wasn't with them I was watching a couple of movies by myself, doing homework/studying, and cleaning up the apartment. It was very relaxing overall and these are the weekends I look forward to, the ones where I don't have a lot to do! :)

Well its time to get going to do more fun stuff! Catch y'all later!

My Birthday Weekend!

I know and I'm sorry I've taken so long to write a new post! But in my defense I've been sick all week along and super busy because I've missed a lot of class.

But,... This past weekend was my birthday! Wooh! Now I'm an even bigger bad-ass now that I'm 20 and only a year away from being 21! So what did I do? I went to Menominee, MI. Its a ity-bity little small town on the border of WI and MI in the upper penninsula. I was originally planning on going to Canada with some friends (or by myself and meet up with some friends) and getting shwasted. However, those plans changed when my good friend Ashley mentioned going to Menominee with her for the weekend and maybe possibly getting some tattoos done. So! I went!

On friday morning I began my 3 hr adventure through Escanaba and into Menominee with 3 random strangers in different cars and we raced our way through the back roads. Needless to say, the would-be 3 hour trip turned into an hour to 1.5 hour trip! Hehe... awesome. Once I got there, I navigated myself through the side streets to Ashley's friends apt that we were going to be staying at for the weekend, in which I did find it.....eventually... After a couple of hours just chilling we decided to hit the downtown area so that I could have a look around. I found this old/rare book store towards the end of the main street downtown and fell in love with it. The moment you walked in you could just smell that old book smell mixed with a hint of cinnamon which put together makes you just want to explore the vicinity. Which, I did of course. And behold, I found not just one or two but three beautiful new books. I bought two books on Art History and one about young adults in the 20s in London, UK. I absolutely fell in love with that teeny-tiny little bookstore at the end of main street. I really cannot wait to go back and do it again, and again. Yes, multiple times. ;) After that we headed to the library for internet access, not much to say there. We also headed to a quaint little cafe with absolutely delectable mediterranean inspired soup, sandwiches, and lattes. Pretty soon we mad our way home where we just took it easy.

Saturday was pretty much the same story, staying at home relaxing and what not, but with one minor difference..... I GOT TATTOOS!!!! (I'll have pics up soon!) I got three all-together. One behind each ear of wings and one on the ribs of a heart-shaped peace sign. They didn't hurt that much, more of an annoyance after a while. But I love them so much and it wasn't even that much of a pocket book cruncher.... only $30 for all three!!! After the tattoos Ash and I took a little side trip down to Green Bay, WI to see a good friend Nick. Which, in itself was an adventure. Once we were there we got really hungry so at 10pm we went out to Fazoli's Italian Eatery and alas! They were closed, sucked major. So Nick then suggested a good sushi place at the other end of town, like the east side of the east side of Green Bay, and we were on the west end. Go us! So we ventured off to find this great place and the moment we do find it, it closed 5 mintues prior! Talk about sucking it major! So we head back to the west end and settle for Subway. Not sushi or italian but still very delicious. Finally, after chillaxing for a couple of hours we made our 40 minute journey back to Menominee at 1am.

The next day we headed back home so I could once again, commence the boring and tedious dutiful student studies. Uck!

Not one of the best birthdays ever, I still have many years to go to look forward to that one! But it definitely was very fun and I did enjoy myself very much!

Well! Sex and the City is overtaking my attention so I must pay my dues to the wonderful characters in this show.

Love and Lust always.

Concerts, Drag Shows, and Camping!

Here is a cheer to this past weekend! It was absolutely a blast!
First, I had two friends that I met this past summer while on Mackinac Island come to visit me all the way from Canada on Thursday! Whew! Their names were Jake and Aaron. They mainly came down for the awesome concert that was about to commence that night here at NMU. The headlining act was 3OH!3, however, we mainly went to the concert for one of the opening act Down With Webster. I was first introduced to them through Jake about 2 months ago? I think. Here is a link to check them out if you wish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71S9ou2gcqE
They were so awesome! I was able to snag up front and center standing room, so quite literally I was in front of the vocalist/guitarist Patrick Gillet. (Also, he is absolutely gorgeous!) So, you can guess right that I absolutely rocked my face off (and arms) when they came on to play every one of my favorite songs! (Of course, all of their songs are my fav!) I even got one of their signature red cups with their band logo on it. After they performed I slid back through the crowd to re-join Jake and Aaron who managed to be pushed half way back through the crowd (wimps!) From there we went to the merch table during the next performance of HelloGoodbye (also a phenomenal band) where behold! There was Patrick himself! I got a very snazzy and cute picture with him, my cup signed by him, and also a very awesome hug from him! (Where I then found out that he is an amazing hug giver and smells absolutely delicious! ;D ) We finished the night by watching 3OH!3 from the stands and then went home to relax and chat it up for a couple of hours!

Friday was full of busy, busy, busy! WHEEEWWW! I had originally planned on waking up at 8 to go to work for a couple of hours but my sleepiness got in the way and I fell back asleep until 10 (lazy but good!). At 12 we all headed over to the Jacobetti Center at NMU where we were helping out for the 10th Annual First Nations Food Taster. So I set Jake and Aaron up at the fry bread station and I helped out wherever I could until 1. At 1 I then headed over to pick up some friends then headed over to the Vandament Arena also at NMU (but all the way across campus!) where we started to get ready for the 14th Annual Drag Show! Basically for 2 hours we fixed the shirts (that had glitter all over them and the floor) played with the Audio and Visual guys son (Whyatt) for awhile (he also helped with our shirts), talked to the queens, made final preparations, and ate some delicious cake from Joe's Cakes located here in Marquette, MI (SO MAGICALLY DELICOUS!) Then at 3 I went back to the Jacobetti to continue helping out with the Food Taster and I was there until 5ish. After a brief interval at home I headed back to the Vandament to commence the infamous Drag Show! This year we had a Drag King (Jac), which was awesome but stressful because his plane didn't land until half way through the show. The show, as always, was amazing and a success! Good Job everyone! From there we hit up the after party at the Landmark Inn (where I may or may not of had a few drinks myself...).

Saturday we woke up and got breakfast at Babycakes in downtown Marquette (delicious muffins made from all natural ingredients!) And I also took one of the queens and Jac to the airport so that they may make it to their next performances. We then proceeded to go camping at Morgan Falls about 10 minutes outside of town. By "we" I mean Jake, Aaron, the Anthropology Club, and myself. That was a lot of fun, we had a fire, roasted hot dogs and marshmellows, and basically had a good 'ole camping experience in November!

Sunday Jake and Aaron went home and I was left here to play on my computer and commence some long forgotten homework and studying... (boo!)

Overall, so much fun! (And a long post to boot!) I cannot wait for this next weekend though! Details to come soon, but for now thanks for reading!

Love and lust always.....

Popping the Cherry!

So! This is my first post! Be very excited because I definitely am.

I just want to start out with a bit about me:

I really don't know what exactly I want to do with my life but I'm sure that I want to travel the world and meet tons of new people whom I can call good friends. I am currently going to school to study for a career in Archaeology and I'm thinking about a focus on the Mediterranean for my area of specialty.
So far, NMU has been good to me (except the Financial Aid Office... boo!). I have met so many new and wonderful friends whom I want to keep forever! They have made my undergrad life so amazing and spontaneous! The professors are super chill and love to sit and chat about the most random things. They're not like other university professors, they actually care about the students and will stand up for them if need be. I am not to thrilled about the shortage of the number and diversity of Art History classes but whatever I'll live.
Living life is what it is all about. So keep smiling and dancing like a badass... love and lust always. ;)
